Are Paid Google Play Testers Worth It?

· 4 min read

Paid testing services advertise “12 testers delivered, guaranteed.” What you actually get varies a lot.

What you usually get

  • 12 Google accounts that opt in to your closed track.
  • Most install the app and let the device phone home.
  • None of them use the app meaningfully.
  • No usable product feedback.

What you sometimes get

  • Accounts that Google later flags retroactively — cohort disqualified.
  • Drop-offs around day 10 if the service oversold capacity.
  • Refusal to refund when production access stays locked.

When paid is actually the right call

  • You're an experienced dev launching a polished app.
  • You've already failed once with friends-and-family.
  • The cost ($15–50) is less than another month of delay.
