Why Your Google Play 14-Day Timer Just Reset
· 4 min read
The 14-day clock can break for reasons you don't immediately see. Five common causes.
1. A tester uninstalled
Drops your active count below 12. The streak breaks. Most common cause.
2. Google flagged an account
If anti-abuse flags a tester retroactively, they're removed from your active count silently.
3. A tester opted out
Testers can leave the program from the opt-in URL or Google Group settings. Quiet drop.
4. You pushed a new release
Some major release updates require re-review. During re-review, testers can't install the new build, which may stall their “active” status if devices were waiting on an update.
5. The track changed type
Switching from closed to open testing (or vice versa) breaks the streak.
Defense: always recruit 15+. Check the tester report on day 3, 7, 10.
